Hi all!
I've just recently taken over a forum. I now pay the monthly hosting bill, and I am one of 2 admins responsible for the running of the forum. The other admin is the original owner of the forum, and he has transferred everything to me.

My question is this; is it possible to remove the original owner's admin privileges even though I'm the newer admin?
I have looked in the admin section of the forum, and am unable to edit the other admin's group down to moderator. I'm assuming this is because he was the admin first..?

Anyway, he is not responding to e-mails or PM's, and I'd like to ensure that he can't change anything vital to the forums because he still has admin privileges.

A strange request for sure, but any help would be appreciated...

Thanks in advance!

There is a built in admin account which is a super admin account. It is hardcoded to always be the admin account and has special privileges that other admin accounts would not have.

The only thing you could do is take control of the account and the old admin would need to start a new member account.

Hi Bruce, and thanks for your prompt reply.
How do I get to this 'super admin account'?
And what if he has control of it?

Thanks again

J

The following link will be to the super admin account on your forum:-

The page below tells you how you can reset the username and password for this account by editing the database:-

It appears that the previous owner has that super admin account for himself.
Oh well, not for long... :)
Thanks a lot Bruce, I'll give that a try.
