My current version: Powered by  http://www.webwizforums.com/ - Web Wiz Forums version 7.9

I'd like too upgrade to today's version. I have this HUGE fear of breaking our website. We've been using Web Wiz forums from 2001 to almost 2012 without ever upgrading. The amount of information we have stored in our database is CRAZY.

Our forums are completely breaking lately. If you try to post a message with more than 10 email notifications attached to it, it will take 5 seconds to load. 15 emails will take 10 seconds to load, 75 email notifications times out the script at 97 seconds.

Help what do I do to get this going asap. :-)

Thanks in advance,

RUnning on IIS6, windows server 2003. Familiar with ASP but not a professional.

Another note: We have 100 GB of storage left on our network drive.

There's been problems with email notifications across my classic asp pages and nothing was changed in the code to cause this issue.

What could cause this to all of a sudden happen?

I spoke with our server administrator and he's very unsure what is causing it after he did some troubleshooting.

Slow sending of emails would be caused by either a slow SMTP server or network. You would need to speak to the mail server admin and network admin about performance issues.

If you upgrade to version 10 there is an option to only send email notifications once for a topic to let them know of a reply. Further notifications about replies in that topic will not be sent till the user visits the forum. This greatly reduces the number of email notifications sent while also helping to prevent your website being blacklisted for sending spam.
