What do you mean by 'short links'?

I *think* he means using anchor text, instead of the actual URL.

If this is what you mean, you should do this, without the *

[*url=http://www.car-parts.whatever]car parts[/url*]

So it's called anchor text in some communities?
Interesting - learned something new today, it's going to be a very good day.

I call it hyperlinks, can't say if that's proper or not, I think MS Word does as well, as in if you make a single word or two link to a site/web site.

http://theamcforum.com/forum" rel="nofollow - FORUM

for example

Make sure you have links enabled for the group in your admin area.

You can then use the Insert Hyperlink button. You highlight the text you want as the link, then click this button, fill in your hyperlink in the popup window, and when you click 'OK' the window will close and apply your link to the highlighted text.

You would not be able to test this in this forum though as the Newbie group you are in does not have permission to create links. You need to have 10 points or above to create links in this forum.

FYI,

Hyperlink is the name for the link as a whole.

Anchor text is the name of just the displayed text part of the link, eg in your example, the anchor text is "forum".

And obviously, you also have the URL which is the page you are linking to.

ok here is the problem  if I add  a web address it shows fine
but if we try the "anchor text"  it just shows 404 error

so  we have followed the advice given with [url]   way
this is what shows  http://%3ca%20href=/ - jog">http:// http://www.nissanjukeownersclub.com/ - jog
the web address is nissanjukeownersclub.com    the link word is jog
