Hi

I have an IP range blocked 211.* as it is China, however I have been notified by another administrator that an IP address http://www.rolling-maul.com/admin_ip_blocking.asp?IP=211.88.31.225 - 211.88.31.225 registered.

Any ideas why this could have happened please?

(Good old "myspace123" user)

Thanks

We had the same thing - I blocked a spammer IP range xxx.yyy.*.* and a week later, another spammer registered/joined AND successfully posted spam as well.
Registering is one thing, but for them to post using an address that was only a few numbers away from the original when I had a whole range "blocked" rather surprised me........

wonderbison if you have 211.* in your IP Blocking list it should block the IP 211.88.31.225. I have tested with the latest version with those settings and it does work. There is a known issue with some older version though where IP blocking did not work correctly.

billd3  xxx.yyy.*.* would not work as that it the wrong format as you can only use one wild card, not two as you have, you would use  xxx.yyy.*

Thanks for getting back

Sadly it didnt block it for me and I am on the latest version. Is there anything I can set up to log for this going forward?

Could it be that I also have a specific IP block for 211.174.63.251 as well as 211.*?

It should work as it would run through the complete list of IP addresses.

Make sure that you have not left any spaces infront or behind 211.* in the IP Block list.
