I'm using version 9.7.

The WebWiz Rich Text Editor doesn't allow people on iPhones/iPads to enter any text. So I tried the basic editor. This resulted in posts advertising Ugg boots and jewellery appearing.

I've reverted to the RTE for now.

What's the solution?

If it is to use version 10 then is it possible just to update certain files associated with the editors as I've customised a number of the files so the forum system integrates with the hosting site's own registration system.

thanks

Derek

The RTE Editor and the Basic Text Editor both use the same security filters. It would not matter if you had the  RTE Editor or the Basic Text Editor enabled if a spammers wants to post spam posts in your forum it would be the same under each editor.

The page below has information on reducing spam in your forum:-

If you upgraded to version 9.74 it would auto detect iPhones, iPads, and Android devices and switch the RTE Editor off for these devices allowing them to post.

If you upgraded to version 10 then in addition to the above you also have a spam filter, so you can configure the spam filter to reject posts with 'Ugg' or other words written in them. You can also configure the starting group for new members to not allow links, signatures, and images, which greatly reduces spam.

Thanks - I'll try one of those options.

But it's very strange that as soon as I turned RTE off they appeared (despite having Guest access off) and no more appeared when I turned RTE back on. I did it twice to check.

Can you tell me which files have changed in 9.74 from 9.56 that I need to update?

thanks

Derek

Thanks - I might as well bite the bullet and use the latest version. I think I actually paid for version 9.56. Premium. How much does it cost to go to version 10.03 premium editio?

thanks for your help.

It all depends on the the type if license you have and when it was purchased.

If you login to your Client Area account and go to the page displaying your license it will show you when your upgrade protection and support expires. The extend button next to the expiry date will show you the cost of extending your upgrade protection by 1 year which also includes support.
