I sometimes get requests from users to close their accounts perhaps a feature could be added in that would allow a user to close their account?

personally I don't want them deleted - I want their posts to remain otherwise it would lose valuable content and make a mess of the forum.

i see a close account function to remove their email addresses and personal information but leave their posts and username intact. The ability to receive PM's removed and a tag or something that could identify it as a closed account.

Login removed except an option to allow them to re-activate their account.

What do you think?

And include in that the ability for it to automatically unsubscribe them from everything, so no email bounces, no blacklists because they won't go in and do it themselves.....................

There is currently not a feature to do this automatically but it can all be done from a single page by editing the user profile.

By editing a users profile you can suspend their account, which would leave their posts intact and would mean they would no-longer receive email notifications.

On the profile page you can also remove any personal information like email addresses, signatures, homepage, AIM, Facetbbok, etc.

Thanks Bruce - yea that's how I do it at the moment. This was more of a feature suggestion that could be looked at some point being included. The 'Close Account' feature would be something the user themselves could do, without an admin needing to do it.

Cheers
