Hi

The new Firefox 17 just came out, and upgrades are beeing applied automatically to most Firefox-users.

This version do however have a problem with the Web Wiz Forum.

The forum turns off the WYSIWYG-editor for Firefox 17, instead the old-style editor with BB-codes is displayed.

/Lars

Are aware of the issue and will be releasing a new version of Web Wiz Forums next week that will include an integrated version of Web Wiz Rich Text Editor that fixes the issue with Firefox 17 as well as adding Rich text Editing support for Mobile Firefox and Opera Mini on Google Android.

In version history, there is this file...

functions/RTE_functions_common.asp - updated to support Firefox 17, Opera Mobile and Firefox Mobile

But I don't see it in the update or on my site???

The version history is just a guide and should not be used for upgrades.

You should follow the upgrade instructions and upgrade all files within your forum.

That's most likely a typo, I would bet it is meant to mean "functions/functions_common.asp".

This is the file with the function to detect which browser/OS you are using, it is also missing from the version history.

Though I haven't had chance to download and look at the files, like I said, it would be expected to be part of the update for the reason listed.

Huh?
So there is no RTE_functions_common.asp  file?

Please, what files do I need to upgrade so FF 17 works correctly?
I have custom changes and can't just over write everything.

Thanks

OK, works in FF 17 now.

But ANOTHER problem. :(

When people open a reply or a new post or PM box to create a new post or PM, the cursor initially does not show, until they type something.

A lot of my members have bad pain issues and when they don't see the cursor, they will give up.

Yes, all they need to do it start typing and then the words AND the cursor shows.

Just to add, the same thing happens on THIS forum.

I click in the reply box and no cursor until I start typing.
This happens ONLY with FF17

The WYSIWYG Post editor simply enabled the Rich Text Editing features of the browser.

The display of the cursor in the RTE is controlled by the browser and it appears that the cursor not showing is a bug with Firefox 17 which have no control over, so will have to live with it till Mozilla fix the issue with the Rich Text Editing in Firefox.

To get around this Firefox bug are looking at pre filling the text area with a character so that Firefox displays the carrot when you click on the Rich Text Editing area.

At the moment looking at using the ASCII Start of Text charter so that it does not appear that the Rich Text Editor appears blank and not having to have a character within it that first needs to be deleted by the person posting.

If you download the new 10.14 version it should fix this issue of the cursor not displaying in Firefox 17.

To get around this Firefox bug a invisible ASCII Start of Text character is placed in to the empty WYSIWYG Post Editor so that when you select the Post Editor to start typing the cursor appears straight way before you start typing.
