I propose an idea to make a new program:

It is necessary for everyone to have a quick and easy access to the databases "SQL Server" and "MySQL".

Whenever I want to create, delete or modify a table or field in one of my SQL Server database I have to create ASP code to do so. As happens to me will happen to many people.

If you make a program (web Asp) entering connection data database can be managed easily think that would very good sale.

Although most web based Database Managers for SQL Server are quite expensive, you do have SQL Server Manager Studio Express free from Microsoft to install on your desktop to manage SQL Server databases with.

With mySQL you have PhpMyAdmin which is a free web based Database management tool for managing mySQL databases with, which is pretty much industry standard now.

Good  morning

You can goto

http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=26729

and down SQL Server EXpress with tools.

Although this download will include the SQL Server database, when you do the install you can select the management tools only.

I have been managing my SQL Server databases this way since I started hosting here without any problems.

Bye

Ian

You can also download SQL Server Management Studio on it's own to install on your PC:-

http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=29062

You need to download either of the two below depending if you are running 64 or 32 bit versions of Windows:-

ENU\x64\SQLManagementStudio_x64_ENU.exe
ENU\x86\SQLEXPRWT_x86_ENU.exe

I would uncheck the one for LocalDB as this is a new type of SQL Server database from Microsoft and you do not need to install this.

I installed SQL Server Management Studio. I run the "SQL Server Management Studio" and do not know how to connect to the database. I look within my network and the database is not in my network.

Could anyone help me connect to the SQL database?

Thanks,

If you are connecting to a remote SQL Server you need to contact the server admin to ask for the host name and user login to the SQL Server.

Thanks, but the server administrator can not give me this information because it would give me access to all your databases.

Sorry maybe my last post was not clear.

If you are using a shared database server you would have an SQL Server login that has access only to your own database and not all the databases on the same server.

You would connect to the database server using your login that is granted access to your own database.

For example for customers who have SQL Server Databases on our shared hosting would connect with SQL Server Studio Manager using the database server host name of the database server their database is on and the username and password of their database they wish to connect to. They would then have access only to their own database and not to any of the other databases on the same server.

You need to contact your database server provider and ask them for this information to connect to your forum.

If you find out I would suggest keeping it private and not posting it in a public forum.
