Hi All,

I'm having a problem upgrading from v8.05 to v10.14, and I'm hoping someone can provide some help.

As background, our club has used the v8.05 forum (Access version) for a number of years. We have a web host for our website and the forum. I also have a test version of the software running on my laptop (Windows 7 IIS), which has been problem free during this time.

I'm trying to upgrade to v10.14 and have purchased the Premium Edition. I first upgraded the hosted version of the software without any problems. Database got updated, connection test passed, and everything went fine after that.

However, I tried to follow the same process to update the version running on my laptop, and ran into a few problems.  When trying to access localhost/forum I was getting HTTP 404 errors. After trying a number of different things I ended up deleting the web.config file. This seemed to solve the problem as going to localhost/forum then initiated the forum upgrade wizard.

I then went through the upgrade procedure, entered the database name and location info, and then performed a database connection test. The test was successful.  At this point I thought I was done.

But, when I clicked on the link to take me to the forum I got the following error message:

Server Error in Forum Application
An error has occurred while writing to the database.
Please contact the Forum Administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_Access_getSessionData()_delete_session_data
File Name:- functions_session_data.asp
Forum Version:- 10.14

I've tried repeating the process a few times using a copy of the database backup, but each time I get the same error message.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to resolve this issue?

As an aside, just this afternoon I installed a new version of the NewsPad application on the same test server (my laptop), and the installation went without problems and I was able to access the administrator area.

Thanks in advance
Steve

Check write permissions on your SQL database

Yes, that was it. Such a simple solution.

I hadn't even thought of checking that since the database was modified as part of the upgrade process. Since the upgrade was successful I had assumed that all the write permissions were set correctly.

Thanks very much!
