I need to know before purchasing your product.  On my website I have 2 separate products pages with content, page 1 about muffins and page 2 about donuts.
I wish to add a button at the bottom of my 2 content pages "click here to go to forum" and redirect user from donuts page to go to donuts forum and user from muffins page to go to muffins forum.

Once user is in donuts forum he can not go to muffins forum (unless he goes to muffins content page and clicks the button for muffins forum)

Can this be done?  Would this require 2 separate forums installed?

thank you in advance

You could use the URL of each forum category when clicking the buttons to only show the forums from that category. See example below to show only the Product Support Forums Category on this forum:-

http://forums.webwiz.net/product-support-forums_forums_cat2.html

However, if you wish to maintain completely separate forums that can not been seen from each other you would need two separate installs.

Good afternoon

A while ago I noticed;

'Set up the database table name prefix
'(This is useful if you are running multiple forums from one database)
strDbTable = "tbl"

in database_settings.asp.

It seems like that at one point it was intended to allow for duplicate sets of tables with slightly different names such as DonutsSetupOptions and MuffinsSetupOptions in one database.

strDbTable would be set to the appropriate value based on say a Request QueryString value.

Is this an idea that never took off and is no longer supported?

Bye

Ian

Why does anyone need more than an 80x25 character only VDU?

Using the same database for multiple Web Wiz Forums has been supported for over 10 years.

When using SQL Server or mySQL in the setup/upgrade wizard you can change the default table prefix 'tbl' to anther when entering your database connection details.

I've done the above with smaller forums and had no issues

Bruce, what if he put a password on the 2 forums and then create a button link with the forum url and password

You are not able to pass the password for a forum via a URL.
