Hello,

I'm wishing to upgrade from version 9.  I performed the last upgrade myself, but I'm running into problems right from the beginning.

My (first) question is, if the forum version I have is running fine, do I need to check the server permissions or can I just assume they're correct.

The server isn't in my control and the whereabouts of the fellow who does control it are dubious.

And if you're going to ask me precisely WHICH version 9 I have, please tell me where to find that information.

You would not be able to assume that the permissions are correctly set on your website.

You would need to make sure that you have read, write, and modify permissions enabled on your forums 'database' directory in order that the install/upgrade wizard can write the database configuration details to the files in this directory.

Once the upgrade is complete you can then disabled the write and modify permissions on the 'database' folder.

Okay, you've just about sold me.  How do I find out which of your plans is best for me?  The Cloud server concept sounds cool, but if speed/distance isn't the issue I thought it was, maybe I don't need that package as much.  Unless I'm missing something, probably the case, your regular Windows Hosting packages offer a certain amount of bandwidth per month, but this isn't mentioned in the Cloud solution.  How do I find out how much bandwidth I'm using now?

Cloud Servers come with between 200GB and 500GB of bandwidth. It is listed after 'Dedicated Memory' in the Cloud Server Hosting Packages.

You would need to ask your current provider how much bandwidth you are presently using. If you have any website statistics these often show how much bandwidth you are using.

The Cloud Servers are generally for websites that have outgrown shared hosting or you need a more powerful solution with admin rights over the server.

Which ever solution you choose you can always start off on the smaller packages and upgrade at any time if you need more resources added to your hosting account.
