I noticed a bug with the latest version of the fourm (v10.17) and the latest .htaccess URL Rewrite file. Firstly the download page says its 1.9 but the file says 1.8.

The main issue is, if you have a thread set as an announcement in all forums and click "View latest post" from Active Topics (New Posts) then it adds the forum ID you accessed it from. But the URL Rewrite cannot handle this and the url ends up as "/thread-title-here_topic28074&FID=2&PR=3_post302921.html".

The site is hosted with Web Wiz and the page returns a security error because of the & in the file name.

The .htaccess file is only now kept in the URL Rewrite Tool download for backward compatibility for older Windows 2003 servers that can not run n the IIS Rewrite Mod.

As Microsoft will be dropping support for Windows 2003 in April 2014 will also be dropping the ISAPI_Rewrite .htaccess

The ISAPI_Rewrite .htaccess version will still work with older Windows 2003 servers as they do not have the additional security check you have in Windows 2008 and above for the '&' character.

If you host with Web Wiz you would have IIS Rewrite Mod and should remove the .htaccess file and use the web.config version instead.

If you want to stick with the .htaccess file switch the ASP.NET mode to Classic Pipeline which does not have the security check in Windows 2008 for the & character in the URL.
