I am interested in purchasing the latest version of the forum, in order to upgrade from v9.55 that I am currently using.

Because the forum has great many custom modifications, I tried to download the free version in order to incorporate (off-line) all the changes and when done I wish to buy the premium version. I have th efollowing questions.

1. The upgrade wizzard did not work. I got the error message The Database Setup Wizard has can not find a previous Web Wiz Forums tables in the database to update. The only difference I can think of is that the object owner is not dbo, but I did fill-in the correct owner

2. Am I right to assume that after making all the modifications in the free version I can only overwrite some 'system' include files and get to the premium version? Or do I have to install the premium version first and then make all the changes?

3. One of my biggest concerns is the language file which is a pain to translate (even though I only need to translate the newer messages). Is there by any chance a discount if we do this change for you and of course post the language file in the forum?

Thanks for your reply in advance!!

I am not sure about the other issues, especially the 3rd, but I can answer your second question.

The free and premium forum files are exactly the same so you can apply the changes to the free one and then upgrade to the premium version later.
When you purchase the premium version you will receive a code/serial number that you enter into the admin area, allowing the premium features to be unlocked.

As for the 1st issue, I would check the connection settings are correct. Also check that the table prefix is correct, the default is 'tbl'.

Thank you very much for your answer.

The 'test connection' works correctly, so it really shouldn't be a settings issue. Moreover, I used the settings in my current database_connection.asp file so it should work.

I am sure I am doing something really stupid, because I have upgraded the forum's version in the past and this is the only time I had problems. I will let you know if I find something not related to my setup though.

Make sure you are selecting that you are upgrading from version 9.x on the first page of the install wizard.

It could also be that the version you are upgrading from is not a 9.x version and is an older version, in which case you need to select one of the other versions of web wiz forums to upgrade from.
