Two members of my forum are having issues posting pictures, other members have posted pictures with no issues. They are receiving an error message saying "error inserting, object in current location" when they click "OK" in the "Image Properties" window. The image does appear when they click "preview".

I explained how to post pictures in detail and walked one member through the process. We tried uploading it to the server and the direct link from Photobucket.

I edited his post and was able to post the pictures.

Both members experiencing difficulty are using Windows 8.1 and IE, I suspect this is the problem. I had many issues when using 8.1 and lost the compatibility button in IE. The compatibility button solves any issues in Windows 8.

Is there another option we can try, or should I send a support ticket?

Thanks in advance, Robert/Nugs.

This problem occurs with IE 11 where you need to place the forums website in to Compatibility Mode within IE in order that all RTE features including inserting images works correctly.

So far we have spent over 40 hours looking in to solutions to fix this.

Microsoft removed their own RTE code to replace it with standards compliant code. Unfortunately the way they have implemented it that when a window is used it can not input in to the carrot location within the editor.

It is looking that it maybe a case of a total rewrite of the RTE editor to remove all opening windows in order to support IE 11 without using Compatibility Mode. If this is the case it will be many months of development to build a new editor from the ground up.

Many other RTE editors are broken by IE 11 so also keeping an eye to see if anyone comes up with a solution to the problems caused by IE 11's new RTE API.
