On my forum I have a few private forums, including a Moderators forum.
There has always been a loop-hole in the forum that has allowed people to see the titles of threads in these private forums, as it is displayed on the Active Users and member profile pages. I usually get round this by having vague and obscure titles for threads in private forums, but it doesn't seem practice for Web Wiz Forums as a whole.
I would like to propose that a second set of permissions is loaded on threads, which grabs the Guest member group permissions for the primary forum for that topic. If the Read permission is ticked then it is seen as an open forum and displayed in the Active Users page. If it is not ticked, then it is classed as a private forum and Active Users displays a "Private Forum" message instead of a link.
Bruce, if this is some something you would be happy to add but don't have the time, then I wouldn't mind doing the work for you (as I was about to do it for my self anyway). If it's not something you would to add to the forum, then I will most likely release it as a mod for others.

The Active Users page only shows the titles for private forums for Admins and Moderators for everyone else it shows 'Private Forum'.
The Member profile page should be the same but would need to check on that.

I have checked and if you are logged in as a normal user the location is displayed as 'Viewing Topic' onn both Active Topics and Active Users pages if another member like the admin is viewing a topic in forum that they do not have permission to access.
The Title of the Topic and the link to it are removed from both locations if the member viewing does not have permission to access that forum.
