Hi if there are any network gurus out there, could you tell me whats wrong with mine?  Thanks!

I got 3 pcs all on a network connected by a hub, all with the same make a model network card (D-link 10/100)

Im using windows 2000 pro, the others are win 98 se.  I can see and get to them on the network fine, but it takes ages and ages for all the files to show up when I do browse their computer as supposed to them looking me its almost instant.

Any help appreciated!

in devive manager.. set ur network card setting to be 100MPBS always.. some lancard if set to automatic.. work as 10MpBS only when the system is booting up and once the system is running in winows.. they switch to 100MpBS.. DLINK network cards r well knows for this often..

try it out.. i cant gurantee wether that is the actual problem or not :)

check system bios if the lan card is built in. i had the same problem with one computer at the school comp. lab and all i did was set the lan card to be 100MPBS always from device manager rather than the default of automatic.. and everything worked..

check the  hub as well..and if the hub is multi speed. make sure it is set to use 100 MPBS rather than leaving it on automatic mode..

and all that doesnt works out.. then it may be problem with ur opreating system..

there is a built in lan card but i uninstalled it and installed my D-link so it was more copatible with the other computers all with dlinks as well

hub has to be multi speed, the other 2 pcs work fine off it
