I have seen on a couple of sites welcome members name I was wondering how do you do that? like this The time now is 29 May 2003 at 12:16pm |

its done wit Cookies this site (forum) stores your User Code (eg "nunanmeF232322" i think) and then checks the database to see who you are for the time, you can do <%=now()%> and it will show the time and date for the last visit, it uses the cookie again to see the last date you visited |

umm well if you use the forum, you could include the common.asp file and use the strings... eg. strUsername (dont think its that thought) and then you could do <% Response.Write("Welcome " & strUsername ) %> and that will disply the "Welcome numanme" on your site and for the time you could use <% |

The way I learned to do it was to use a WYSIWYG editor like DreamWeaver and look at the code that did it...then I copied/pasted that code to another page. After that didn't work I learned about using includes, etc. which got me really interested in ASP code. Its true to say I’m a newbie to all this ASP but I do use DreamWeaver and Araneac and usually resolve it, the problem I’m having is locating the page the link is on
