We have a member who's email address contains a .  (joe.bloggs@) but the forum software seems to be removing the . (showing joebloggs@) and obviously this does not work when an email for say a new password is required.
As administrator I can delete the email but adding the correct one after deleting only shows the version without the . again.
Any idea what's happening?
We have others who have similar emails containing a . and they display and work fine.

A mail server should treat the email address joe.bloggs@ and joebloggs@ with out the dot as the same email address.

Web Wiz Forums only removes the dot from email address for GMail address. GMail does not require the dot in the email address when sending emails to GMail email addresses.

The reason why Web Wiz Forums removes the dot is that spammers know that GMail ignores the dot in email address and use this to signup to forums multiple times using the same email address and just move the dot, which is ignored by GMail, around in the email address.

Ah thanks, it was a gmail address, but the strange thing is he says he never received the mail. I sent mail to him from my own email too which he also did not get. Anyway all explained as far as the dot is concerned.
