Dear Sir,
Forum topics are not send by email to forums users/email addresses.
The following work fine:
  • Windows server 2008 r2 with iis 7.5 and virtual smtp relay server.
  • Configuration of gmail (inside smtp server) as a smart host to forward email messages
  • Successful tests with the smtp server's system folders drop, pickup, badmail. All mails sent successfully to gmail.com, outlook.com, hotmail.com and yahoo.com.
  • Web Wiz Forum's Email Test procedure/connection completed successfully.
  • All forum users can send/receive email through Forum's email capabilities and all mails are forwarded to the user's email accounts.
  • Forum version latest 11.03 on windows server 2008 r2, IIS 7.5, SMTP, MySQL 5.3.
  • Forum users have subscribed to forums with valid email addresses.

The only issue I'm experiencing is that topics, posts, replies are not sent to email addresses.

Could you please help me?

Thank you in advance.

Sorry for the lengthy post. I wanted to be accurate regarding my current configuration. If any other system-related info is required I' d be glad to share it with you.

Thank you.

You would not receive an email notification for your own posts, as you would normally know if you have posted or not. This means to test the email notification feature you need to post as a different user.

You also need to have subscribed to the topic in order to receive email notifications.

Depending on your settings in the email settings page you may only receive the first email notification after leaving the forum with the messages that there maybe other activity. This is to reduce the changes being blacklisted for spamming of you send emails for each and every notification.

Thank you

Google should provide your the SMTP server information that you then enter in to the email settings page in your forums admin area.

You may also want top check with your web host they allow you to use Googles mail server to send emails.

I believe that Google support TLS encryption for their GMail SMTP servers.

If your web hosts supports the best component to use would be Persists AspEmail with TLS.

If your host does not have Persists AspEmail  installed try CDOSYS with SSL/TLS and if that does not work try CDOSYS with no encryption.
