I have been trying to upload pictures to posts. I keep getting a virus warning and deletion of picture during upload. sometimes on second attempt the picture uploads.
I have run a virus scanner on the pictures with no virus found.
I have reduced size of picture using windows paint utility. I have read that photoshop creates layers which produces false positives in some scanners.
How or what do I do to to make picture usable?

Meta data in images can be used to hack in to the forum. To prevent this web wiz forums can scan for meta data in images and block images that contain meta data.

However, most mobile phones place meta data in to images these days as does software like Adobe Photoshop.

To upload images that contain meta data you would need to edit the upload settings in the admin area and disable the option below;

'Upload Image/File Scanning'

This is disabled by default in web wiz forums as most images now do contain meta data. It is likely that you enabled the feature unintentionally.

We are looking at removing this feature as most modern browsers have better protection from harmful meta data in images as the option was bought in about 8 years ago due to attacks in the wild that targeted browsers that did not have protection from harmful meta data.
