It sounds like you have enabled URL Rewriting from the SEO settings page in the admin area.

This setting will use Friendly URL's in your forums that have .html page names, but requires that you install the 'Web Wiz Forums URL Rewrite' tool from the download page;

If you can not install the 'Web Wiz Forums URL Rewrite tool' then you would need top disable the URL Rewriting from the SEO settings page in the admin area.

Hi

URL rewriting is disabled because although I switched it on for a previous issue... it caused further issues

But I can try again?

I had a look at your website at http://www.rolling-maul.com and the URL's that are showing 404 errors are all ones that have ampersand '&' within the URL.

This appears to be some type of filtering being done on the server which is blocking these URL's with the ampersands from loading.

You should contact the server admin regrading this issue.

The only software they have is http://www.iis.net/downloads/microsoft/urlscan URLScan. Could this be it? This seems to be to stop SQL Server injection attacks and if so what can be done to get around this please?

Thanks

It is likely that the URL Scan would be causing the issue.

Unless your website is badly coded and is vulnerable to SQL Injections you should not need to use URL Scan to protect against SQL Injections.

Hi
The URL Scan is switch off. The hosting company have said this...

When looking at the url when I view the source code, I can see the extra text before the title value e.g.

http://www.rolling-maul.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=7148&FID=4&PR=3&title=please-read-board-rules-contact-details" rel="nofollow -

This certainly looks to be a server issue.

The only thing I can suggest is that if you have no luck fixing the issue is that you look at moving the forum to our network.

Web Wiz Forums hosting packages can be found on the page below;

Hi

Thanks for the reply. What sort of server issue should I get them to look for?

For example the following fails from the link

http://www.rolling-maul.com/please-read-board-rules-contact-details_topic7148&FID=4&PR=3.html

but remove &FID=4&PR=3

http://www.rolling-maul.com/please-read-board-rules-contact-details_topic7148.html

This works. So something is either adding in the &FID/PR or something isnt removing within the software?

I could not say what the issue is, I know though that have not seen this issue before with any of the forums that we host and not had anyone else report this issue.
