My prior website got hacked I went ahead and downloaded the newest version, and when I try to install to convert the database (v8 to v11) i get this error message:

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01f4'

Variable is undefined: 'strDbTable'

/forum2/includes/global_variables_inc.asp, line 343

under database_settings.asp I see:

'Set up the database table name prefix

'(This is useful if you are running multiple forums from one database)

strDbTable = "tbl"

but when i accessed the database there is nothing that's just tbl. any help would be appreciated

I suspect that the issue is caused by not replacing the files in the 'database' folder with those from the latest version.

To fix the issue;

1. Replace all the files in your forum including those in the 'database' folder with those from the latest version.

2. Make sure you have write permissions enabled on the 'database' folder so that the upgrade wizard can write to the files in this folder required for the forum setup/upgrade.

3. Go to your forum in your web browser were you will have the upgrade wizard run and follow the on screen instructions.

Bruce,

I ended up converting over to MySQL Server 5.0.96 ; but i'm not able to connect its stating:

Server Error in Forum Application
An error has occurred while connecting to the database.
Please contact the Forum Administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_mySQL_db_connection
File Name:- database_connection.asp
Forum Version:- 11.05

Error details:-
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified

Any idea? Also, if we open a web hosting with your company can you finish the implemnetation of the upgrade for us?

The error means the myODBC 5.1 driver required for Classic ASP to be able to connect to a mySQL database is not installed on the server.

You would need to have the myODBC 5.1 driver installed on the web server.
