Subject: Unable To Edit Posts Or Give Thanks

I am a member of two forums that use the WebWiz software (version 11.05).

I have recently found that whilst I can submit posts and quote posts I cannot access the Post Options button and edit my posts.

Neither can I use  the Thanks button.

If I use an iPad or iPhone these options work fine but not when using my iMac.

I have tried using different browsers - Chrome, Safari and Firefox but to no avail.

I am using OS X El Capitan 10.11.6

Has anyone experienced similar and can help resolve?

Thanks

PS - I can access the options I mention on this forum!

Have you modified the headers and footers so the forum integrates better with your website?

If so I am wondering if you have caused a change to the CSS that stops the drop down from working.

Hi,

I am an end user and not a provider of a forum so, as far as I am aware, I have made no changes.

Using this version of the software I can access the buttons concerned but not on v11.05.

However, on the forum I visit there are other users accessing via an iMac that have no issue so I'm unsure where the issue lies and I have no general issues with the browsers I use and the sites I visit.

Just to add further to this issue I cannot access the options mentioned via my work PC either which is running Windows 7.

So I'm not sure it's a Mac thing. Certainly seems that I'm being locked out when using desktop systems yet all is OK when accessing via an iPhone / iPad.

You would need to contact the provider of the forum.

It is likely that a change they have made to the forum to integrate it with their own website has caused the conflict in the forums CSS that prevents the drop down from working.

Thanks for your reply.
I have sent a message to the forum owner and await their response.

From your experience if this is an issue from the owners side would you not expect other users of the same forum to experience the same? I seem to be the only one.

Yep we've seen this on a number of forums since the upgrade to the latest version, I think it might be Chrome but it works for some people in Chrome but not others so I'm not sure.

We do have some custom CSS so I'll try and narrow it down, all I can say is the custom CSS existed previously and worked fine.

Thanks

I assume the latest version is the one I am replying on now. This is working fine for me.

It's version 11.05 that I can't edit my posts, give thanks etc. and I have tried that using Chrome, Firefox and Safari.

If I use my iPhone or iPad it works OK.

When you use the iPhone or iPad you are using the mobile version and so the webmasters custom headers and footers are not used.

This seems to suggest further that it is a custom header and footer that the webmaster has added is causing the issue.

One other theory is that it could be a browser plugin such as an add blocker in your browser causing the issue, or Internet security software on your PC such as anti-virus software that is causing the issue.

I use a Mac and there is no anti-virus on that but there is on my Windows PC. This issue affects both computers so it is looking more like the header and footer issue but the question remains as to why it affects me and not the other forum users?

That's the bit I can't understand.

As you are not the forum admin that installed the forum or the forum I am not able to give you any advise as at this stage as an end user of a forum I am having to completely guess blind as to your issue.

To resolve the issue you need to contact the forum admin that installed the forum and if needed they would need to raise a support ticket with us.

Found out what it was - CSS code that centres a DIV appears to alter the positions of the drop down menus and where they appear.

Because this forum is centred in a table you won't notice the issue.

Anyway I've found a work around which appears to fix it.
