Check that you don't have a firewall running blocking outbound connections on TCP Port 443

In the latest version it will be port 443 as the connections now use TLS encryption over TCP Port 443.

I'm getting the same but code 12031. Not sure when it started but running W2K3/SQL2005 and there should be no outbound ports blocked.

I noticed it while setting up a replacement server on the same LAN...which does not encounter the problem.

For PCI Compliance we have had to disable TLS 1 which is an old vulnerable protocol dating back almost two decades.

You would need to ensure that your server is configured to use TLS 1.1 or higher when connecting to the API's.

You would need to use Windows Server 2008 R2 or above to have support for TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2.

Microsoft ended support for Windows Server 2003 on  July 14, 2015, and is no-longer proving Security patches or updating the OS. It is therefore unlikely that Microsoft will issue an update leaving Windows 2003 users on old vulnerable SSL and TLS protocols.

I would say the best advise would be to upgrade your server to a newer version of Windows that is currently supported as using Windows Server 2003 not only means that you can not use these features in Web Wiz Forums but your server is wide open to vulnerabilities.

If you are looking for a new server we do provide Windows Server 2016 Cloud Servers. You can find more at the link below;

We also provide Web Wiz Forums hosting packages on Windows Server 2016 if your looking for a budget option. You can find more on the page below;

Thanks for the great explanation Bruce. I hope our 2003 WWF Licence continues to work while I complete set-up of our long-overdue replacement server. Outsourcing is still an option we are considering in an effort to simplify!

Web Wiz Forums is now free, so a license is no-longer required.

If you are using an older version of Web Wiz Forums then once activated you will not need to activate the license again so you should not have a problem.
