Subject: Updated installation instructions?

Hello,
I'm attempting to install Web Wiz forum software on a Windows Server 2016 Essentials server (with Essentials Experience uninstalled so that it will play nice with SQL Server) but the provided instructions are for older server packages with various differences in permissions.  For example, Windows Server 2016 doesn't have the "Allow inheritable permissions from parent to propagate to this object" option on the folder permission security tab to un-check.  Also, the default ISUR account differs from the published instructions and all it takes is one incorrectly set permission and the forum won't function.  Is there an updated set of step by step installation instructions anywhere to assist me with my install?
Thanks,

Install instructions for the SQL server version can be found on the page below:

If you are unsure how to set write permissions on the 'database' and 'uploads' folder for your website then a quick search on Google should show you how to set permissions for the version of Windows that you are using.

How you set write permissions would depend on a great many things, from the version of Windows you are running to the user account that you are running the website application pool under.

It is very simple with Windows Server 2016 just to use the default settings of Application Passthrough and setting write permissions for the IUSR account or IIS_IUSRS Group, but then if you run multiple websites if one gets hacked they all get hacked. It is better to run the application pool under its own account and then set read-only permissions for that user on the website folder. You then set write and modify permissions on only those folders it is needed.

Thank you for replying.  Is there a step by step how-to on this?

How to setup a web server is beyond the scope of support as it is a very complex subject that would be better handled by a website dedicated to how to setup IIS.

You could try buying a book on IIS or having a search on Google.

You could try installing a control panel such as MSPControl  https://mspcontrol.org/" rel="nofollow - https://mspcontrol.org/

When you add a website through MSPControl , with dedicated app pool enabled, will create a new user for each website and set the correct permissions for both the app pool and website.

You can also use the file manager in MSPControl to set write permissions on selected folders.
