Hi Smile

I have a forum with 2.600 members, containing 22.000 posts, in 4.500 topics.
My forum runs on a mySQL database.

Is there any way (paid or unpaid) for me to migrate from mySQL to a Microsoft SQL database?

Have a nice day

Allan

I recall doing this many years ago for someone and it was very difficult and took the best part of a couple of days to complete.

I would not have the time these days to do such a migration, so unless you want to try and do it yourself you might be stuck with MySQL.

The fields that caused the biggest issue are date/time fields and Smallint in MySQL would be a Bit data type in SQL Server.

Thank you for your answer Bruce
I think it's worth the effort - maybe In the dark winter evenings, I can find the peace to do the job. LOL

Did you use any kind of converter-tool, or did you do the job manually?

Yes, I used a convertor tool and then went through correcting the data types for fields that did not convert correctly. I think I used Navicat, but it was almost 10 years ago, I could be wrong.

What I would suggest is creating a new install of Web Wiz Forums SQL Server version so that it can create a database that you can use for reference. Then when you migrate your MySQL database to SQL Server you can check that the data types for the fields are correct when compared to the reference database.
