Hello,

We are using the hosted solution, the latest and greatest and we are VERY happy with the stability, speed and the trust is high from that standpoint; but...

I use Greenshot every day, it's my best friend at work and at home too, I used to have Snagit at another job, it's also great. The snipping tool in Windows is widely used.

http://getgreenshot.org/downloads/" rel="nofollow - https://getgreenshot.org/downloads/

When using one of those 3 tools to send a screenshot to the clipboard, I would like to be able to paste it into the body of a post and, when pressing the "Post New Topic" or  "Post Reply" button, a picture with the date and time in its name would be created in our "File Manager" under "Member Control Panel."

Right now, we can paste the screenshot from the clipboard in the body of a new post or an post reply and we see it in the draft but nothing happens when we post. Everything is there but the picture (s).

Maybe some setting on our site has to be turned on? maybe it's a paying feature that we did not purchase? Maybe I just do it all wrong?

Please let us know if it's not possible to do it right now and if not, is there is a plan to bring the feature? Right now, the process that is imposed to us is obsolete at best.

1) save the screenshot as a file.
2) go to the "File Manager" under "Member Control Panel." and go through a new upload drilling to the file location.
3) go back to the post and use the insert image after eventually scrolling down enough to find it.

---

A few related side remarks:

1) We should be able to select multiple pictures in the file manager to delete them instead of being forced to do the deletion one file at a time.

2) A picture or file with special characters in its name like the "รง" will be displayed with question mark characters and then cannot be deleted. It goes away but comes back immediately.

Thank you for considering the request, I started using WebWiz forums in 2007 and I am ready for an upgrade OK j/k we had many :)

This post maybe better in the Web Wiz Forums forum as the Web Wiz Rich Text Editor has not been available for a number of years and your questions and suggestions, seem to be more to do with Web Wiz Forums.

One of the limitations of Classic ASP is that the image needs to be first uploaded to the web server before it can be included in a post, therefore copy and paste of an image to the text editor from a local source is not possible.

Thank you for your other suggestions, I will see they are added to the list of new features to add.

Hi WebWiz-Bruce,

Thank you very much for your answer.

Reading about various forum software, it seems like it's a tough task. Facebook uses different technologies and pasting a screenshot is so convenient there, that's why I thought I'd ask.

Would it be possible to write custom software to do it in WebWiz forums though? it seems like we would detach ourselves from the crowd and suddenly fly above all forums just because that little add-on feature.

I notice that when we paste a picture in the rich text editor and use the "Preview" feature, the software OCR the text in the picture. I find strange that we can OCR the text in a picture we pasted but we can't create a file out of it and save it in the user's folder.
From the user's perspective, that OCR function has no value. Being able to paste a picture in the rich txt editor and save it with a random name in the user's folder would help. It's gotta be a way..

There is no OCR that reads the text in the picture. Maybe when you copied and pasted the image from another source that the copy and paste also copied some meta data with the picture that once the XML was stripped away by the security filters left the text displayed in teh preview editor.
