On a regular basis, some banned people come back and, if we can recognize their style and ban them again, we would like to automate things by denying the creation of their new puppet account under certain conditions.

When we click the icon next to the IP address at the top of a post, we arrive at this page https://network-tools.webwiz.net/ip-information.htm" rel="nofollow - https://network-tools.webwiz.net/ip-information.htm and we get information about the poster's IP. One of the properties is "Reverse DNS Authenticity". It is consistent that the offender's IP shows "Could be forged: Hostname '<whatever.hostname>' does not exist".

My question is:

Can the system deny the creation of an account if the 'reverse DNS authenticity' property returned says 'could be forged:...' ?

The reverse DNS authenticity does a DNS lookup of the hostname returned from the reverse DNS lookup and sees if it matches the IP address. Its not a reliable way to use for a block as many times the hostname doesn't match the IP.

Have you enabled Stop Forum Spam from the forum admin area? This is a good way to block known spammers and submit spammers to them through the forums spam clearer page which can also block the IP address of the forum member.
