I'm migrating from an old server to Server 2022, and am stuck.
The SQL database works, it is now actually on the new server where I want to move the forum files to, and no issue connecting to it from either the old server or the new one - the posts load just fine on both servers.

However, two issues:

1. Server components were installed on 2022 (I got no error), but they do not show as installed when going to admin_web_wiz_forums_settings.asp
(see img of old vs. new)

2. Some images don't load. This seems random, sometimes some do. Refresh the page later, then others don't. Note the text editor shows 403 error, even if the /forum directory is not protected on the new server

I confirmed all files, images etc were copied to the new server.

I must point out that on the new server, I'm testing on a DIFFERENT domain name (for testing purposes only), but I updated domains here:
Admin > Control Panel > Setup and Configuration / General Settings
  - Web address path to forum
  - Website Address
Restarted IIS, same issue.

Extremely grateful for any help on this!!

1. If you have installed Persists components such as AspUpload and AspJpeg you have 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Make sure you have installed the version that matches the app pool. For example by default app pools in Windows Server 2022 are 64-bit, if the Persists components you installed are 32-bit, you need to enable 32-bit mode in the app pool Web Wiz Forums runs under.

2. A 403 error will often be caused by a Web Application Firewall or IIS connection limits. Try disabling any Web Application Firewall and remove any IIS connection limits.

Enabling 32bit for the app pool, now ASPJPEG shows "Installed.
Still disabled: ASPEmail, AspUpload, nor FileUp

Good call/pointer on the 403 & missing img issue. Fixed by modifying the "Preventing DoS attacks" option in Plesk, it was:
  • "Max# of concurrent requests = 5" changed >> "Max# of concurrent requests = 10"
  • "Max# of requests 20 per 200 ms" changed to "Max# of requests 40 per 200 ms"

Just need to figure out why the components are not fully functional at this point then looks like I'm good to go. AspUpload and AspEmail I need, if FileUp doesn't work I can let that one go.

You don't need FileUp, but you should install AspUpload to upload files in the forum. You can download the 32-bit version at;  https://www.aspupload.com/download.html" rel="nofollow - https://www.aspupload.com/download.html

If you don't have AspEmail you can use CDOSYS which comes with Windows Server 2022 to send emails from your forum.
