i've been trying to find a mod that allow people to see who is reading the topic at the time. i've seen other forum's with this feature and would like to have that feature on my forum. that way everybody can see who is reading that topic at the time.

that would take a while to make, you would need to store a new field in active users table, location, and on every page have an ID, such as intPostIDLocation = 500 which is the topic id user is on then in the active users include read of the variable and upload the number to the active users table, then on the view post table read of all active users on post id being viewed

Similar Request:

I've seen on other boards where "active users" listing is at the bottom of the default.asp page, you can click the words "active users" and you get a spreadsheet type formatted thing that tells you who's currently online and what thread/forum they're currently viewing. This would be a really nice feature. Plus the option to only have admin be able to access the spreadsheet, or all registered users. I would think it wouldn't require so much code as the above request where this info is displayed on every page.

Has anyone discovered a MOD for this?? I would be really interested.

There is already an active users page in the forum might just be disabled. To add the functionality to see who is reading what might create a lot of overhead.

Yes, I do have the active users info turned on at bottom of main page of forum, however it does not tell you what thread/forum the user is currently viewing - right??

Any word if anyone is working on that kind of function?? I have been EXTREEMLY happy with my WebWiz board, but this little feature would be nice.

I dont think it would create to much overhead, we are only talking another field in active users table and another SQL query on each page.

So does this mean that only SQL dbs could do this, or forums
that use Access as well?? I don't know if the Access dbs use
SQL on the back-end that I don't see...
