I've never known SQL server to effect anything to do with IIS.

It could be that it is installing the latest ODBC drivers, if it is then these no-longer support Access 97 and you may need to change your access databases to Access 2000 or 2002

If Access fails to run after then it sounds more like  a database driver problem, so I would try reinstalling the MDAC drivers from http://www.microsoft.com/data - www.microsoft.com/data

By default SQL server installs with Windows Authentication only. For that to work with the forum you would have to use a different connection string. It would be easier to go into the properties of the server and change it to mixed mode, then you can connect with sa and the password you chose for it. http://webapp.us/div/mixedmode.jpg - Click here to see where

try Username:sa Password:______ (being it blank) This is the default I think if you switch. You can always change the sa password going to the security control in Enterprise Manager.
