Hi All

We are in the process of piloting the Web Wiz Forum, and I was wondering where do I change the minimum length of a user name.

Is this an option in the Administrator screens or does it need a change to one of the ASP pages.

John

You would need to edit the file register.asp both with the text box size and where the name is read in, if you increase the size you will also need to change the filed size in the database.

Thanks for the info.

We have looked through the file but can not find the entry.

What we want to do is change the minimum lenght of the user name from 4 to 3.

in the register.asp file scroll down to line 1071 (WOW  big!)

but if you dont have XP and are using Notepad to edit it,

scroll down to about 3/3s of the way down,and you'll see a lot of JavaScripts and i think its this line

        if (document.frmRegister.name.value.length <= 3){

am guessing you just change the 3 to a 2

In notepad you can use Edit---Goto---Line to speed things up a tad.
