Outbox messages are supposed to be deleted when they are read by the received, but mine (and my members) are being stored up, this could really slow down the db in time, is this a known glitch in the latest forum or is there something i need to enable ?

if you re read it actually say outbox messages will be deleted when the rescipient deletes theres,if your box gets sort of space you could always increase the capacity!

To save space in the database and keep performance better the PM is only stored in the database once, what you see in your outbox is the same message as the recepient has, it stays in your outbox till the receipent deletes the message from the database.

If you are finding that you have to many PM's in your database there is a batch delete function for PM's in the admin section that you can use to clear out all PM's over a certain date.

My suggestion (for a future release) would be to change the Read_Post field to a integer value and adding 1 more value that would signify that the the PM was "deleted" by the sender, so that the sender does not see it in there outbox. This would allow senders to clean out there outbox without affecting the receiver and not relying on the admin or receiver to clear out the outbox.

I agree that it would be nice to be able to remove messages sent from the outbox without removing it from the recivers inbox.
