Congrats.  The Blazer was on my list of potential vehicles when I was shopping last year. a friend had a '95 or '96 and it was a killer ride.

I ended up buying a 2002 Toyota Tacoma 4 door truck.  I really love it, plenty of power and a great reliable ride.  The pic here is black, but mine is silver...both look great In my opinion.

Have fun off-roading (if you dare to scratch the paint) and fending of all of your friends that want you to help them move.

Heres the my new vehicle, well new to me in the last month, an '89 VW LT28 minibus (minus the seats and hand painted in NATO green tank paint). Well you can't expect to much for under £500. But it does like it's petrol with a 2.4 littre 6 cylinder petrol engine

:( least you got a car! im too young

insurance is too much anyway for me which is a bummer, it would come to around £2000 a year, wayyyyyyyyyyyyy to much

i want a mini, minis are cool! im then going to be patriotic and paint a union jack at the top because minis with that are great!

i probably wont get a mini

I've got an 19 year old VW Polo as well (simpler to park in town than my minibus) I have to have sepperate insurance on each as you can't insure multiple vehicles on one insurance policy and most won't insure minibuses/vans on private insurance anyway so I pay over £600 a year on insurance.

For commercial insurance on a van which msot insurance companies will only do on vehicles of that size I was getting quotes of £1600 which is more than 3 times the amount the van is worth!!

I'm just glad I'm not under 25 my 21 year old brother has to pay £1300 a year 3rd party to insure an old clapped out 1.1 Vauxual Nova!!

I haven't even considered getting a car. Seoul has such a great transit system that it's just silly for me. Why get one when I can take taxis, buses, or subways for next to nothing? Although it would be convenient for when I go grocery shopping - I wouldn't have to drag the groceries that massive 200 meters to my house.

Cheers

well, in the U.S. you have to drive quite a distance to get to pretty much anything, unless you live in New York or maybe L.A.

and road trips for vacations and such are in upwards of 800 miles on the average (1600 round trip...)

That is true, probably would take me 20 min walk just to get out of my sub division to the road. My Countie just has a very light bus system and the next stop is like 3 miles away. No car, nowhere to go...

i got a Nissan X-Trail 2002. Earlier i had Toyota land Cruiser VXR 1 2002 .. it was awsome but too big to handle.. morever it was 8 cylinder and too soo much petrol...it had lot of capacity for luggage and people were always naging aroung me to carry them to airport for their flight or pick some of their releative friend from the airport... these cheaps dont want to pay extra money for hiring a luggage taxi.....had other problems as well and maintance was a rip off

so i came up with a solution and sold it and bought nissan xtrail.. nice and awsome...got good music system, automatic and computersied, i put some blue neon under the hood and inside of front grill and ity looks reall cool.. especially in dark...

im only 18 years only but i had a car ever since i was 16...

Car insurance is dirt cheap here..cost like $80/year for my Nissan X-Trail .. Driving Lisence insurance is another $80/year

Life without a vehicle sucks..

I like Toyota Land Cruisers, great for off-road.

Having a large vehicle is a problem with people wanting to use it, but in my case it's not to go to the airport as my LT28 is a bit large to manover around an airport (it won't gp in allot of car parks), the back inside is 4 meters by 2 meters, so people tend to want me to help them move house, or quite often for some reason people always want to use it to move motor bikes

I can't even fathom insurance being that cheap. Do you guys not get into wrecks over there or something?

Insurance for my new blazer is $183 per month...

well we do get wrecks and i guess saudi arabia has one of the highest rate of road accients.....but the insurance policy is dependent on the owner's driving records and the vehicle records.. i dont have any history of wrecks due to my fault neighter my car was ever wrecked..i bought it brand new from the showroom..

if the vehicle is wrecks.. the annual premium will increase once the car has been repaired and bought back on the road..

and if the driver has a past history of any wreckage due to his fault.. then the driving lisense insurance premium will increase..

therefore as long i dont have any bad records and neither my vehicle does.. i will keep paying the nice $80 annual premium for my vehicle and another $80 annually for my lisence

I pay £220 fully comp for my car which is quite cheap for the UK, but I've not claimed for any crashes I've had for over 6 years, in which time I have written off 3 cars and had one car stolen.

My last crash was a when my van rolled back-wards down a hill the other week when the handbrake gave up and it hit a fence putting a nice dent in the back and along the side. A bit a filler and paint later and none one would know any better
