Wanted to ask the WWF developers (heh heh), why keeping track of poll votes was placed on cookies instead of the database? On cookies, I can vote in the same poll from different computers.

Also, is there a mod in the works (by the community not necessarily the developers) on moving this to the database? If so, please point me to those posts (i did not see any).

Your user ID number is also stored in the db as the last voter so until someone elase votes in the poll you can't vote again even if you delete your cookies.

The ID numbers of everyone voting isn't stored in the database and kept becuase it would lead to bad performance, imagine a poll with a 1,000 votes you would need to store who voted for each and every one of those 1,000 votes in the database making the database size larger than it need be and also slowing down the performance of the forum.

Hmmm.... maybe a separate db for the polls then, where just information for the polls is kept. This would keep this data off of the forum db. The wheels is turning, slowly, but turning....

There is a mod in the mod forum that stores the informsation in the database.
