Subject: Group Permissions. Is this possible?

Hello, I want to have people be able to select which forum groups they belong to. So member A might belong to forum group a, b and d where as member B might belong to forum group c and d.

So someone in a particular combination of choices would have the same code as someone else selecting the combination of forum groups. So all members in forum group c and d would say be called Group CD whereas all those who were subscribed to say forum group a b and e would be Group ABE

How is it possible to do this so that someoneassigned in group ABE are only able to view foirum group a b or e and others  say Group AE would be allowed to only view forum group a and e?

It seems that each forum has to be assigned one group level only so that means a particuolar forum has to be assigned a group rather than a member.

Members can not belong to multiple groups.

Thats not what I mean really.

I want to set up a group called GROUP ABD and allow them to access forum groups A, B and D.

I want to set anothe rgroup up called GROUP ADE and allow them to access forum groups A D and E.

Is this possible? I think it might be now I have applied group permissions for a particular forum and allowed two groups GROUPIES and NEWBIES t oaccess it. So is this the way?

There is a mod listed on the site to do multiple groups per user, which allows them to join groups... etc.  Once 7.02 comes out, I will redo the mod, and improve upon it.

Cant get the maddog site to work. Its hows page error.

Anyway, I have a solution her that works for small numbers of combinations.

Lets say you have x forums and wish subscribers to select subscriptions for qany combination of the x forums.

Each combination of forums is named its own name as a private group. eg someone subscribed to forum A, B and E is joining group ABE, Someone subscribed to forum A and C only is in private group AC

Manually you have to add group permissions to each forum. So in Forum A you must add private group AC and private group ABE.

Same for all other combinations. 5 differnt groups gives (maths lesson)

5C1 + 5C2 + 5C3 + 5C4 + 5C5 which equals 31 group labels.
