Let's say I have a browser open (call it "parent").  "Parent" opens up a pop-up window called "child".  I want "parent" to be able to detect when "child" has been closed by the user.

Thanks

The easiest method for doing this is too have a Javascript function run when the child window closes.

It's called "onunload" or something like that and goes in the body tag.

onUnload is called EVERY time the page unloads which means if the page is refresh or a new page is loaded onUnload will be called. Not a problem if you are just opening a window for content reading, but can be a big problem if the window is used for browsing.
