Hello...

We are a registered user using v7.1 of the forum.  We have had users report problems when trying to post a new topic, the "Message" text box does not display.

It's something about the web page that isn't rendering correctly in IE6. It looks like you've got some sort of custom textbox in an iframe which isn't getting rendered properly?  It turns out that disabling the client-side proxy (Proxomitron) gets around the problem...any ideas on what would cause this?

Thanks,

Kirk Stowell

Some software running on machines does try to inject code into pages (mainly pop/add blocking software). There is little that can be done about this if the person wants to use the WYSIWYG Editor.

Otherwise just tell the person to turn off the WYSIWYG editor in thier profile and just use the standard text box without any WYSIWYG effects.

I found the problem, if you are using the Proxomitron internet filtering program under web page filters you will find 'Kill JavaScript Banners' you need to uncheck this to get the WYSIWYG text box to work.

But I would recommend to your user not to use this filtering program at all as it does really slow down the amount of time it takes for pages to load.

Hmmm, one of the reasons I use Proxomitron is to *reduce* the load time (it can remove most ad images, for starters). And I also want to kill JavaScript banners, so the non-wysiwyg editor will work for me.

I wouldn't use the WYSIWYG editor with Proxomitron, even if you turn off the JavaScript add blocker (which simply prevents allot of JavaScript from functioning), Proxomitron will inject it's own JavaSCript into pages which will mean you will have funny JavaScript stuff appearing in every post you make.

I did find though on my DSL connection that becuase the pages where being parsed by it and it adds allot of it's own JavaScript code into the page to prevent pops that pages where taking allot longer than usuall to appear on my machine.
