i know that dreamweaver uses mm_ in some of it's javascript...

I'm not a huge DreamWeaver fan, but that is a really good convention to use for variables. It helps avoid collisions with other code. e.g. doIt() and mm_doIt(), etc...

or any automation script that dreamweaver generates it gives you something like
mm_lastmodifieddatestart 1/2/03 mm_lastmodifieddateend
