phpbb skin vs invision skin.

phpbb looks more solid and professional, why invision looks fruity and fun (brighter)

And why the heck can't I start a new topic in here?

It also would be a great idea to put all the new skins for beta 3 on a page.... so people can download and view them all in one place...

No, there are some (small) problems

I have been away on a trip and have not had time to update yet - but will probably update all the skins during the day - today (tuesday).

edit: all done!

Great work Pulver
I just have one question relating to photoshop to ask you! How do I change just the button outline from that green to grey?

My forum is going to be grey but I like the PHPBB board buttons more than the invision ones, but the green background doesn't look right with the grey skin

Posted By: Trevni

Maybe Pulver can make a phpbb grey skin?

I donīt really have the time to create more skins - there is enough work to update my excisting skins

regarding the grey colour - I quote this from another thread:

When you save the button (as gif) instead of using 'projectionsurface': 'none' use 'own' and choose the backgroundcolour of that skin (as written in the readme file of the skin)

choose the grey colour of your skin.

Pulver: I dont think it would take you long at all. You can get the already done grey img's from the phpbb website.

Check it out: http://www.phpbb.com/styles/styles_demo/index.php?s=47 - Grey phpbb Skin

You can also look at other phpbb skins.

Yepp, there hundreds of skins that I could make...

But since Iīm doing this without any "givebacks" whatsoever (like money, experience, jobopportunities etc) because my real job is something completely different - iīm finding it hard to have time to update the skins I already have made to new versions of Webwiz.

Thats why I donīt have any plans to create new skins - but now when the final version is out I hope other people will create some skins.

There is a high demand for a "dark" skin - anyone?

Personally I think Daz over at http://www.forumimages.com - www.forumimages.com is the master of making skins (for phpbb) - take a look at his demonstration at http://www.forumimages.com/styles_demo/index.php?s=20 - this adress  - the FI Subgrey is a nice grey skin and  FI Black is a nice black skin.

Just wondering if it would be legal to change the PHPbb or Invision graphics, because I already did.

I was going to post it here after I got permissions from Pulver, but then I read his above message and thought it best to check on the legallity of things first.

If it's not legal then I won't post it, I also won't post it without Puler's permission. And would like to appologize for not getting permission first to edit his skin. I didn't realize that he only included the PSD's to allow for language updates.

Anyway, here is a preview of the skin:

I don't like the stars and will probably change them later.

Tell me what your thoughts are please.

Regarding legal issues - the PHPbb subsilver SDK ( available at the bottom of http://www.phpbb.com/downloads.php - this page ) License says:

Originally posted by PHPbb PHPbb wrote:

Therefor it would probably be OK as long as the skin says "phpbb" somewhere in the title.

Its pretty obvious that no one is "stealing" from me if they use the graphics from my PSD files - i used the graphics available in the phpbb SDK and the Invision GDK myself

But I still urge people to create skins for webwiz "from scratch" - I created the phpbb and Invision skin "for fun", but of course you should create something that looks different and better than these skins

( but I have personally "retired" from skinmaking  )

I loaded the skin and it looks nice.  The only question I have is:  How do I get the nice darker blue with the orange fonts on each forum name i.e. Author, Message, back to top etc.? Right now I have black lettering on either a grey or light blue background.

Thanks for any help.

Steve

The problem is that you dont have all the images of the phpbbskin in your forum_images folder

for exampel - you ar missing the table background image wich makes some text look strange.

Try to upload all the images again and replace all the exicisting images.

No - using the skin, or making the skin file available for download is perfectly OK.

However - the PSD files were redistributing the orginal phpBB graphics - wich was not OK.

I was contacted by the group leader of phpBB and he told me that its fine to make a "phpBB skin" but he asked me (in very kind words) to remove the PSD files.

Open the file 'default_style.css' from the includes
folder - find 'tHeading' and try out some changes.

There are no changes in the 7.6 skin file that is different from the existing phpbb skin  file on page 1.

Yes, or you could put the "Works with Version 7.6" closer to the link to the file (i.e. directly underneath the link).  Or you could do both.

phpbb_skin_v7.5

I really like this skin, although it doesn't completely replicate default phpbb look, which is what I'm shooting for. I've gone in and started tinkering with the tables, and cells of the category view(default.asp) in hopes of getting it to look more like the default phpbb look.

Keep checking back, I'm removing most of the references to the skin file and changing almost all of it to point to a css file so when I'm going to reskin the default it'll be easier to go. I've almost completed the Category view page, all that's left it to redo the forum statistics and below that. One thing that I'm trying to figure out how to do is show in the forum statistics the most people on the forums at one time, and the date. I'm not sure it keeps track of that, and haven't really looked for the variable yet. When I'm done it should look and feel exactly like a phpbb default. I have high hopes, I know, but eventually I want to make it where phpbb skins can be easily implemented into this board. One day.... one day. heh

Edit: I literally took the the default style sheet that comes with wwf and replaced it with the default style sheet for phpbb, and rewriting around that. :)

Try copying the original post_message_form.asp back. I did not have any problems like this when I installed the skin. This is acting like there is a problem with the editor script portion of the page not the skin.

Got it finally I had to have it overwrite the old files and stuff and needed to delete the default style.css file first then paste in the new one since my web host won't replace the file if you were to just simply paste it in the folder

Thanks a bunch mikey
