pulver this skin is awesome now i don't if using this or olive. Just one question , when i edit the button's labels and save them the corners has jaggies and it's not good rounded so i wanna know how do i have to save them. Thanx

Since I´m using the swedish version of Photoshop - I don´t know the exact english commands (the ones within the ' ') but here goes:

When you save the button (as gif) instead of using 'projectionsurface': 'none' use 'own' and choose the backgroundcolour of that skin (as written in the readme file of the skin)

For Invisionskin it´s #EEF2F7 and for Olive skin it´s #EFEFEF

Hope that helps

You sould make the buttons look better on a dark background

Posted By: vdub
Date Posted: 28 February 2003 at 10:26pm
Can I get the PSD's to all the buttons so I can get rid of the shadow

Posted By: Pulver
Date Posted: 01 March 2003 at 3:30am

The PSD files are available to make translations to other languages - not to turn the skin (and the Invisionboard graphics) into something else.

If you want a "dark" skin with darker background colours I suggest that you start working on one - from scratch. It´s really not that hard - just many hours of work

I have the PSD for the ones with words but the others look terable with the light shadow. I just want the butons to not have the shadow

pulver do u just hand edit the skin_file.asp with notepad or do u use a program? if not i think some1 should make a skin editor, that would be sweet

Hi Pulver,

really great skin

Do you can upload also the small images (icon). I need some new icons.

I have edited any gif file and the result is not bad but it's a long work.

Here you have an example of a modified icon:  thats for the active users.

If you want to see the entire site, here is the adress:

hey pulver,

would like to use the invision post form icons (indent, outdent, bold, etc) in both forum and guest book..so I need to create an insert_smiley button which is used in the guestbook (but not in forum).

So my question is: Have you released the .psd post form icons - and if not, would you?

btw great work on the invision skin! Cheers!

Regards,
OMG

Posted By: Pulver

I have not released the post form icons as PSD:s (not even sure that I have the PSD files for those buttons saved somewhere  )

However - I made a smiley button for the first betas of v7 - in the later betas it was removed.

Here you go:

It works fine with 7.01

7.01 is just a small bugfix release from v7 final - no major changes.

Hi everyone

Does anybody know how to achieve the line of white space separating each forum as on the invisions site? It makes the page much more attractive and easy to follow.

I've noticed that quite a few WWF sites have collapsible forums; this is a really nice feature as well and something I'd like to incorporate into our stuff. Has anybody ever tied this feature into the visitor's login status so that forums they're not "allowed" to see are automatically collapsed rather than indicated with a No Entry sign?

Finally, in the shopping list!, (thanks for your patience if you're still with me) where do the graduated graphics bars that people use as backgrounds for their table header rows come from? These make an enormous difference to how attractive a site appears.

Any help much appreciated.

Posted By: b_bonnett
Date Posted: 27 June 2003 at 5:37am

For the line of white space, you will need to edit the default.asp file. I happen to agree with you that it would make it look better, so (if you don't) I will give it a go over the next couple of days.

As for the http://forums.webwiz.net/forum_posts.asp?TID=1940&PN=1&TPN=4 - collapsible category mod , I don't think the No Entry thing has been done (from reading the post - I haven't installed it), but shouldn't be too hard to do if that is the case - try asking in that thread and they might do it for you.

The background image for the table headers comes from table_bg_image.gif in your forum images folder. Very simple to create - use a program such as Paint Shop Pro to create a vertical line with the neccessary gradient and voila!

Hope this helped,

Blair

Hello Blair

You're up early/late? But many thanks for troubling to reply.

Re the collapsing forums, I'll post on the category you suggest and for the graphics, I'll have another go at PSP. I tried it before I posted but using their gradient "wizard" from the materials box I end up with very ugly graphics not the subtle ones I see on other websites.

I'll have a go at default.asp and if I crack it I'll post the code changes here.

Again, many thanks.

Well, I am currently reinstalling various programs - PSP 7 being one of them - so am unable to help you too much there. If the effect isn't subtle enough, you are possibly using two colours that are 'too far' away from each other. Also, try to use mid-range colours rather than very dark / very bright ones.

Also, I just visited your site and have a couple of comments:

  1. If you are going to use frames like that, the non-scrolling parts really should have a different background colour - such as the blue you have with your logo and welcome sign - to differentiate them from the scrolling piece.
  2. In some of the buttons (the 'C-Pen' one especially), the text is blurred.

Apart from that, looking good so far, keep up the good work.

Hi Blair

Thanks for the reprise. I suppose graphics stuff is where the "mind the gap" issue comes in to play. People coming to web design from a technical background like me are OK at the programmatic bits but totally useless at design. I was using royal blue and white so failed on both your suggestions!

The sophco website is really old and I'm practising like mad on a non-commercial site to try and learn all the techniques before launching into a rewrite but thanks again for the tip.

well, i would think if a skin is developed the main title graphic psd would be provided so the users can edit the graphic to the name of their board.

or is that bad form and we're supposed to come up with our own?  let me know...thanks...

Sorry, I thought you meant the 'Powered by Web Wiz Forums' image.

I don't think the main title image is included anyway, since it will differ from site to site and is not skin-specific. So, yes, you are supposed to come up with your own.

aight i got the space working in the forums (take the code of the start of the table and cells and put it under the do while, then the end tags and put it right before the loop)

all is needed now is to add an extra blue bar in the table at the end of each section and maybe swith the top to bars (catergory name and section name divides) around

edit: fixed the catergory and sectiondivides positions, now its on the main site

I justed created some new pips to go with this skin:

6 Star Rating6 Star Rating
7 Star Rating7 Star Rating

I plan on using the 7 Star Rating for Forum Admins and Senior Staff, and using the 6 Star Rating for Moderators.  Everyone else has to go through the normal rating system.

I am also going to make it possible to get a 6 or 7 star rating based on number of posts, but it will be really really difficult to do so.  And by the time they reach that many posts, they will deserve it!

Go ahead and save this to your hard drive and upload to your own server.  Please do not direct link to my server.

Enjoy!

Question... how did you set up the 6 Star and 7 star ratings for Admin/moderators?

Posted By: wistex
Date Posted: 12 September 2003 at 4:54am

Originally posted by Pierse Pierse wrote:

You will need to go into "Group Admin" in the admin section.  Then click on the name of the group you wish to modify.  You will see the following option:

Custom Stars Image Link:
If you wish to use your own custom stars/image for this group type the path in here to the image.

Type in the URL to the appropriate image.

So I changed the Admin Group to have a 7 Star Image and the Moderator Group to have a 6 Star Image.  Then I created a Senior Staff Group for senior staff members and gave them 7 Stars as well.

When there are enough posts, I will create higher ladder groups that allow users to get 6 or 7 stars.  But I will make it hard to do so.  They will need a LOT of posts.

Also, because you can specify the image, you could have different colors or designs for different groups as well.

You can solve this by adding the folowing line in your skinfile:

Const strTableBottomRowColour = "#E6E7F2"
As far as i know the skin wil work then the same as on version 7 (Is this true Borg ?) The only things you have to change are the new buttons that are included in 7.5

I am not good in Photoshop, so i am not able to do this. (Maby someone else is?)

With kind regards,

I can't believe you ripped this skin.  Almost a waste of time in my opinon when you could've spent your time ripping yaXay which is much better.

I made it! http://www.forumumuz.com/forum_images.zip - Here is a set of Invision Skin buttons for 7.5. I think they will do until a better one is introduced. If you want to see them online with a bit alteration on the colours you can go and visit my forum at http://www.forumumuz.com - http://www.forumumuz.com

Best regards.

Thanks, just now getting into WWF and I really appreciate this skin. Only thing I saw is that the Category Titles are not skinned. Their class has been left out of the CSS file. It's called simply ".cat" in the HTML. I added a class to mine, but maybe some folks like the way it looks without being styled.

Yes, good point the Category Titles are hard to read, what did you mod them to, do you have an site we can see and what did you modify, as I am new to WWF as well.

I have updated all my skins (and PSD files) to work with version 7.5 of the forum.

I did not plan to update at all - but since I had some time over...

If you don´t agree with the graphic choices (or the fact that I left out "email" in the email notify button) - there is always the PSD files.

I have also made new postbuttons that fit with the old buttons for the different skins - I have included all the buttons for the Rich Text Editor.

(and updated my email adress - if anyone was trying to reach me on my outdated adress)

Read the readme fil.

Enjoy.

Looks great!

I like the smaller font size (which matches the rest of my site, btw).

Here it is in action: http://www.caribbeanchoice.com/forums/ - http://www.caribbeanchoice.com/forums/ using my version of the invision stars instead of the default (of course).

The Invision skin is missing the category styles in the CSS.  A simple way to solve the problem would be to cut and paste the category styles from the CSS that comes with the forum and past them into the CSS that comes with the Invision skin.

That's what I did on http://www.caribbeanchoice.com/forums/ - CaribbeanChoice.com Forums and it worked nicely.

I have noticed that the clicking on the

javascript openWin'printer_friendly_posts.asp?TID=5','printer_friendly','toolbar=0,location=0,status=0,menubar=1,scrollbars=1,resizable=1,width=640,height=390'">Printable version Printable version

Gives me the error:.....

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01f5'

Illegal assignment: 'strTableQuoteBorderColour'

/printer_friendly_posts.asp, line 258

I have also checked this out on wistex's CaribbeanChoice.com and you are getting the same.

Yepp - thats a bug.

I have updated all my skins to fix this problem.

To fix it yourself - just edit the skin_file.asp:

find:

Const strTableQuoteBorderColour = "#999999"

Const strTableQuoteColour = "#FFFFFF"

replace with:

Dim strTableQuoteBorderColour

strTableQuoteBorderColour = "#999999"

Dim strTableQuoteColour

strTableQuoteColour = "#FFFFFF"

Remember to keep the right colour codes

Ok heres one..   i use the same forum and skin kit on these 2 differing forums

http://cms-stu-iis.gre.ac.uk/wn008/snow/forum/ - http://cms-stu-iis.gre.ac.uk/wn008/snow/forum/

http://cms-stu-iis.gre.ac.uk/wn008/srp/forum2/ - http://cms-stu-iis.gre.ac.uk/wn008/srp/forum2/

on the gusc one i get all the 7.5 extra features like more buttons and resizeing window (that looks slick) and on the SRP one i don't..  I don't get it..

Has it go something 2 do with the migration tool doing something to the database..?  i used it to add the version 6 posts and members..

Thanks in advance people..

Dim strTableQuoteBorderColour
strTableQuoteBorderColour = "#999999"
Dim strTableQuoteColour
strTableQuoteColour = "#FFFFFF"

I tried his fix and I'm still getting an error under printer friendly button?

I removed:

Const strTableQuoteBorderColour = "#999999"

Const strTableQuoteColour = "#FFFFFF"

Any suggestions?
