After I have upgraded from version 6.29 to 7.01 people starts to complaint that they´re receiving emails like hell from the forum. (I received some as well). It seems like there has been sat an watch flag for some, (maybe all) users. Now the question is.. how to stop this? And second, what went wrong during the upgrade procedure?

I used the Migration tool to convert the database.

I upgraded my forum ( http://www.BMWCarClubgGB.co.uk/forum - www.BMWCarClubgGB.co.uk/forum ) and am now suffering from this. The forum settings are fine, etc.
One member who is suffering from this had never even posted since registering 6 months ago!?!
Anybody?

I should have also mentioned that apparently the unwatch option at the bottom of the page is showing 'watch this topic'

This shouldn't happen, usually when it does it is becuase users have cliecked the watch link without realising it.

Tell your users to simply click the unwatch link on the bottom of the forum or click on the unsubscribe link in the email notification.

I would have thought this was the problem but given that one of my users hadn't even posted to the forum (old or upgraded) how could he have subscribed? The problem was happening straight from when I upgraded the forum and this facility wasn't really there in V6.

You don't need to post a message to subscribe, the watch links are at the bottom of the forum topics and forum posts pages for any member to click on whether they have posted or not.

I know what you are saying but there is still something else - I received some notifications yet I hadn't even looked at the threads.
I reckon that anyway if I turn the email notification back on it will soon sort itself out.
Thanks -boRg-.

Great forum software!

In the case of my forum, the users that are letting me know about the emails are not subscribed to watch the threads. I had them check to see if it said watch or un watch. Not sure what the problem is or what I should tell them. I may disable mail as well for now.

Same here.. My mail server is sending tons of messages to the users, who claim they never have used the option watch a tread or subject of the forum.

Did this option work in version 6.29 at all, Borg?
