I received a logo from a client. I really would like to be able to add colors to the logo. I would like to add one color (light gray) to the mountains. I would like to add another color (yellow or orange) to the sun. How can I do this in Fireworks? You can see the copy of the logo below:

Since you cannot see the picture, please go to http://65.174.82.72/brialogo.gif - http://65.174.82.72/brialogo.gif . I really would like to add a light gray color to the mountains and orange or yellow to the sun behind the mountains. Does anyone personally think that the logo looks good without the colors?

Thank you! The logo looks nice. I just wish that I could make the mountains one solid light gray color. I also wish that I could make the sun one solid yellow color. I noticed that there are some spots. Does anyone else know how you can edit the colors in Fireworks?

I don't see any spots

Use the lasso tool on the sun and the polygon lasso tool around the triangles - do edit copy and paste - then select your triangles and add effect - colour fill, choose your colour and bingo - job done!  Do the same with the sun only

gluck!

Unfortunately, I was unable to change the colors in Fireworks. I am not that great at graphic design. I like the logo. I just wish that I could make all of the mountains light gray.

Does anyone know of any fireworks tutorials that would show you all of the instructions on how to change colors of a graphic?

Go to the "help" section in Fireworks - look up "using Fireworks" there you will find tutorials on how to do everything.  Spend a few hours and go through all the tutorials - I think you'll find what you need to know there - check the Macromedia site for help and forums.

Just a side note on the spots...

Use GIF compression and not JPG. PNG is not compatiable with some browsers, although it's been around long enough it should be...

JPG is a lossey format, and that's why you get spots. GIF is not lossey because it uses LZW compression. However, you can only have 256 colors in a GIF. Since the graphic will only have about 4 colors or so (white, black, orange, light grey) you are best off saving it as a GIF. JPG should be used for real world photographs and the like.

Cheers
