What functionality do the different permissions have? Standard, Gold, Platinum? Thank you.

They don't they are just different names for groups that were used in version 6.x of the forum which was axed about 5 months ago now.

If you use the latest version of the forum (version 7.01) you can create an unlimited number of groups and then give those groups different permissions on the forum, such as read, post new topic, post replies, create polls, vote in polls, delete posts, edit posts. etc.
