Hi guys, 1st thing, Fantastic forum, works a treat.

I have a problem on mine with new users registering, but only certain user names.. Its the  7 beta 3 version.
If i try to register as JCS=TESF=1066AD  i get this error

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e21'

Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done.

/forum/register.asp, line 744

I get no alert in the registration page saying that there is anything wrong with the username?

If i register as =1066=  it works fine, so i dont think the = sign is the problem, any ideas??

Thanks

Thanks for the reply Andrew,

I looked at that, and this seems to be my problem

This error is caused when you try to insert too much data into a specified field. For example if you enter a string that is 20 characters long into a field that is defined as varChar(10), or if you try to insert a value greater than 215 (approx 2.1 billion) into an Integer field. This error is caused when you try to insert too much data into a specified field. For example if you enter a string that is 20 characters long into a field that is defined as varChar(10), or if you try to insert a value greater than 215 (approx 2.1 billion) into an Integer field.

The thing is, the field that u type the username into when u register is restricted to 15 characters, it wont let you type any more than that. If i enter 111111111111111, it works, but if i try the name i stated above, i get the error. But if i type less charcters with an = sign, it works??

Any othe r ideas?

Could it be that with borg's security function of converting certain characters to the ascii equivilent that this would increase the number of chars once converted?

I think you are right,

If i enter   damage=tesf=

It fails to register, i get the error

But if i enter, dama=tesf= ,  it works ok

also works ok with 15 normal charcters

Is there anyway i can change this?

Thanks

Its ok, i fixed it, just increased the filed size in the DB for passwords, username, username code and salt (whatever that is, lol)

Might be worth changing that in the dowload files?

Thanks anyways guys, great forum
