I have the following question. Recently my forum (version 6.4) has been hacked and defaced. Luckily I make recent backups, so the damage was little. From what I could see from the log files, the hacker must have been able to override my admin password, and replace it with the default. Is there any way to protect myself better ?

Thanks in advance,

Andreas

yes,

change the default username/password to sumfin diff

if you can put the database above the root directory

ie sum hosts have

/wwwroot/ = for web files (pages)
/private/ = for databases

if you cant, then move the database and rename it

replacing all this in the common.asp files (one is in the admin folder)

also i think for more sercurity you could upgrade to V7.1

Or upgrade to version 7, which has encrypted passwords.
