Every minute, hundreds if not thousands of domains are registered and deleted. I would never be an accurate db. This is why there are whois server that you can query.

sure I know this fact.... but sure there is also something that can read from this database, and be updated... even daily.. and in the footer be written "last updated in ....".

I am not familiar with the DNS server... but I think it has a table containing all the domains available... and any one can install a DNS server on his server, so this table is too can be found on his Server...

so... there is sure a list can be found somewhere

the  is where?

A domain server does not have every domain listed, it had only domains in there previously visited by users using that as their dns. I am not aware of a complete database with all domains in there.

Is this true...??

I thought that any DNS server contains all the domain in the world... with its corresponding IP Address, and it is updated periodically. may be every second (as the one at GoDaddy.com), or daily, or weekly.. (as the one we have here, which sometime you call your ISP to make it manually),

my remark about GoDaddy is because when I register a domain name, and check for it through GoDaddy website.. I found it recorded instantly although I register it from a company in China!!!, while other sites may take up to 48 hours to function...

Anyway... Is the DNS Server contains all the domains and their corresponding IP Address or not?

No, they do not. They keep a copy for a certain type of Domain Names it resolved previously. If the DNS Server does not have the domain name it knows where to go (the NIC) to resolve the address to an IP Address. A WHOIS server has a copy of all it's domain names thus there are thousands of WHOIS Servers. WHOIS Servers are for i.e. com, net and org registered with internic so when you go to the internic website you can query limited info from other whois plus domains registered with internic.

There are close to 2 Million Domain names registered worldwide (if not more), it would cause a lot of overhead if every DNS Server had to update all those.

hmm... sorry.. BUT... if this is the case...

Quote If the DNS Server does not have the domain name it knows where to go (the NIC) to resolve the address to an IP Address

why (espicially) a New registered domain works through a certain DSN of an ISP after 10 hours, while through anotherr ISP may take up to 48 hours... if the DNS record through the second ISP was not found in its records.. why doesn't it go directly to the NIC to get it... but wait 48 hours

and for updating... it doesn't update the 2 millions.. (i thought they are more) but it adds only the new registered one...

anyway.. I think I have to do a little research on this topic.. and will come back to you...

If a DNS Server has an URL already cached it can take some time to update it. If it is a new Domain there should be no real delay.

I run two nameservers of my own, here is how it works.  The domain registrar eg nominet( http://www.nic.uk - www.nic.uk ) who control domains ending in .uk has a list of all the websites ending in .uk.  Each domain registered also has two nameservers registered to it specific to each domain.  Usually it will be the nameservers of the domain registration agent or hosting provider. I run my own name server so they only have a record for the domains that i own.  To get an acurate list of taken domains you have to query every whois server world wide.  I can give you a list of all the whois servers my domain lookup script checks if you like.

I think I've found something very near...

http://www.whois.sc - http://www.whois.sc

you can write for example "egy" and it will bring to you all the domains that contain the letters "egy"... WOW.. they are about 11,006 domains...

and more... if you chose left anchor.. and the letters "egy".. it will bring out all the domains registered that begins with "egy", that's exactly what I was searching for...

Now leave me checking the 4292 domains that begin with egy.. since I have 15 of them
