I keep getting these errors: "Stack Overflow at line 0" I have turned off WYSIWYG HTML Editor for Windows IE 5+ and still receive these errors. I see this error on almost every page I view.  Other users on the forum complain about the error too. Any suggestions?

Updated of problem:

I have updated my server and one of my two client machines.  The server is running windows 2k-advanced server with service pack 1 installed.  My two client machines are both running windows xp. One is fully updated in all service packs installed and other is not.  I still get the error on my two client machines as well as do my end users.  Even if I use the server itself to view to forum I still get the error.

More about the error:

The error does not show up on every page.  Sometimes it will show up on a page with a post reply box and then on another page with a post reply box the error doesn't occur.  It doesn't seem to make any difference to how many reply messages are shown on a page or how big end users pictures maybe.

What I have done:

I've done some searching for other known issues of this kind.  Not only is this problem found in Web Wiz, but also in other asp message boards.  Microsoft suggest to update to service pack 1 which I already did and the error still occurs.  Some of the other posts in this message board suggest updating internet explorer which I did on one of my client machines and still the problem occurs.

The only code I have changed was in the select_avatar.asp file.  I have added avatar pictures and changed the emotions pictures.  I also change the color codes so the site would look different.  However I do not believe that anything I have change causes the problem otherwise I would be seeing the error on every page.  Not just one page here and there.

Please help

I figured out what was causing the error it was this file: select_avatar

<%

Dim fso
Dim rootFolder
Dim files
Dim file

Set fso = Server.CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
Set rootFolder = fso.GetFolder(Server.MapPath("avatars/"))
Set files = rootFolder.Files

For Each file in files
If file.Type = "GIF Image" OR file.Type = "JPG Image" OR file.Type = "JPEG Image" Then
  Response.Write("          <option value=""avatars/" & file.Name & """>" & file.Name & "</option>")
 End If
Next

Set rootFolder = Nothing
Set fso = Nothing
Set files = Nothing
%>

This is a javascript browser error that sometimes effects IE if it has become corrupted. Try turning off the WYSIWYG Editor or reinstall IE

I've just started getting the message too Bruce, and I haven't changed anything. I can even get it (not every time though) whn I open a thread but am not posting anything

As I haven't changed anything, and it was working fine before, could it be a server/host problem causing it and not related to WWF?

No, that's not it.  I have this problem too now that I've switched to JodoHost.com  (don't know what host others are using).  It is intermittent on differing pages all the time, has appeared for me and other forum users since the move, and it never appeared on the other two hosts I previously ran the forum on. So in essence it is probably not something "wrong" with WWF and really hard to guess where it comes from.  But boy is it annoying.

Anyone have any new insight into this?  Did others just find it suddenly went away, or is it still happening?

Dragging up a bit of an old post from over a year ago!!!!!

If you look for more resent posts you will find that this issue was resolved.

It is a client side error on the browser not on the server, so my first guess was correct.

This error occurs if the path to the blank avatar is changed or the image blank.gif that should be with your main forum images is deleted.

This blank.gif is displayed if for some reason the  users avatar can not be displayed, if the blank.gif image can not be found IE thows up the error on the client side (not the server side). Other browsers like Mozilla are not effected by this.
