Is it possible to show the latest replies at the top rather than being tagged on at the end?

You would have to reverse the current sort order, but why would you want to read a thread backwards?

The threads on our site can get pretty long. Amongst other things we use the forum to promote our events and as new info becomes available this is added to the thread. This results in having to scroll down quite a long way to reach the latest comment, question or update.

One argument would be to have a specific forum for each event but this would make the forum a bit difficult to navigate for many of our users who find this internet thing a bit daunting anyway.

How do I change the sort order

Change this line in forum_posts.asp from:
     strSQL = strSQL & "ORDER BY " & strDbTable & "Thread.Message_date ASC;"
to
     strSQL = strSQL & "ORDER BY " & strDbTable & "Thread.Message_date DESC;"

I think he is talkinga about moving the html above the thready physically not changing the sort order. Just copy and past the code for that to where you want to have it.

While it would be generally weird to read posts newest to oldest, if your users come frequently, it is easier for them to see whats new in the topics if new posts are listed first.  Its like an email correspondance.  The older messages get pushed down to the bottom.  I polled my users and it was a unanimous decision to list newest posts first.  This helped me out a great deal.  Glad it was such an easy change.
