It might get wiped in the filters. I suggest changing the username and not editing the filters as this might open up your forum to hackers. Though if that is the case it might be a good idea that signing up with such uername is blocked.

I believe that is true about moding the filters but it seems there should be away to fix it without exposing the forum to hackers!

Im looking into it but again Im not the best at ASP so Ill keep giving it a whirl if anyone else has a fix or an idea please post it!

Thanks

It could a be a javascript problem as slashes can course characters to be escaped.

As you dodin't say how the name was being placed into the PM username field I can't investigate further to findout what maybe coursing this bug.

Thanx in advance I have posted the Username \TJ/row

When I click on his PM button it enters his name in the text field as follows TJ/row

It is missing the First Symbol \ of his username in the text field on the PM Form page.

This Happens When I go to the members profile then click the PM button to send him a message!

It lloks like the only time the \ is dropped is from the pop up profile page.

It looks like the javascript to open the PM in the main window drops the \ even though it is URL encoded. There may not be a solution for this and you will just have to enter the person into your buddy list or click the PM button form a post they have made.

Thanx for that quick response hated to hear that.

Is there a way to filter out usernames so it doesn't include a symbol at the beginning of there username?

By default it would not allow them to use such a name?

Would it be filtered from in the data base or within the registration form itself?

Sorry for so many questions

Just trying to figure away around the java pop bug!

WAKO

You could write something in the registration form that wouldn't allow \ in a username, but as this only happens on the pop up profile page I wouldn't really worry about it to much as very little people use a \ in there username.

OK thanks again and ill check into the reg file to see what I can come up with I wasn't sure if it does it to all symbols at the beginning of each username like many people they use weird symbols all the time

/><&*^%#)($ =+-_~

not sure if it does it to all of these or just this one \

thats why I was thinking of fixing the reg file to stop those symbols from being the first character in the username

if you come up with something let me know

Thanks Again WAKO
